Chelsea: Everybody Has Those Days

In college, you have a lot of things to live up to. Expectations from your parents or other loved ones to be the newest successful ________ in the family; expectations from your professors to pass their classes; expectations from your friends to not be a total square, but to not be a total burnout, either. And then there are the expectations from yourself that you have to live up to, namely that you’ll be able to live up to all of these other expectations!!

Understandably, at least for those of us who’ve lived this experience, life can get a bit crazy. Before you know it, you’re putting salt in your tea and going to class in your slippers. Classes with deadlines loom, financial obligations you can’t quite meet breathe down your neck; life seems impossible, but you manage to keep somewhat calm and carry timidly on. Continue reading

Guest Blogger: Manisha!

Every now and again in your life, you’re going to meet people that are notable. These are the people that, for some reason or another, catch your eye in some way, be it through beauty, brawn, brains, or all of the above (or lack of all of the above, but let’s not dwell on those folks just now).

Our guest blogger, Manisha, is one of those people. We’re in the same faculty at ABAC, so we’ve shared a few classes over the past couple of semesters, and more than a few group assignments! She’s one of the smartest and kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting here at ABAC, and she’s beautiful and talented, to boot! So, I thought I’d ask her to share what college has been like for her so far. Here’s what she had to say. Enjoy. :)

COLLEGE LIFE

Hmm, what to say about college life? Well, it has a whole glut of emotions buried deep inside my heart. College is the time when you get to live life as you want to, the one epic time when you just put aside every restriction and boundary and just go with the flow. Continue reading

Chelsea: Making Your Dorm Room Feel Like Home, Part 1

Decorating your dorm room can be quite the daunting task, especially if you have university rules to contend with. Luckily, not all hope is lost. There are things you can [probably] do with no problems at all! Let’s be clear, though: it’s up to you to check with your housing department to see what is and what is not allowed in your room. One Life Anonymous and I take no responsibility for anyone that gets into trouble. Sorry, dudes. You’re on your own as far as that goes. But, when it comes to making your “scary” room feel like a home, OLA will give you all the advice we have to offer.

Chelsea: An Apology

So, as you’ve likely noticed, OLA is dying a slow, painful death. And, a lot of that blame falls on me. I failed to update as I should. Didn’t have time, or didn’t make time. Regardless, it’s a shitty thing to do, especially when working with friends. So, this is a sincere apology, both to our readers (if there are any of you left!) and to my coworkers here at OLA: I’m sorry I’m such a slacker.

Maybe it’s too late to revive what remains of OLA, but I truly believe it’s worth a try. Maybe we won’t become the next LifeHacker or even the next ONTD – College Edition, but as long as there’s even one person that reads this post, or any other post, far be it for me to deny them the experience. Besides, writing practice is never a bad thing. ;)

So, from here on out, I pledge to do better, to be more responsible, and to do my part to bring OLA back to what it once was – and then some.

James: No Matter What, No Regrets

HOLY BAWLZ OLA UPDATED! Yeah, just wanted to let you guys know that OLA is kinda dying if you haven’t noticed it already. But it’s going to still be live for the foreseeable future b/c I bought the domain and the hosting and our sister site http://yousostupid.net/ is doing FANTASTIC with almost 10,000 views so far and it’s been up for a fraction of the time this site has been up. So yeah, we’re going to stick around here for a while, but don’t expect any updates at all.
